Welcome to the Essential Classroom.
Today we will begin our series on Communism.
We will begin by acknowledging the lessons we learned from Sir Isaac Newton
The man who brought us our early understanding of physics said, “The wonderful arrangement and harmony of the cosmos would only originate in the plan of an almighty omniscient being. This is and remains my greatest comprehension.”
A privilege of my life was being given the gift of learning classical piano as a child and learning the language that is the sound of the math of the universe- Music.
Having played in a symphony orchestra as in my youth, and listening to my son play now, I feel the presence of the grand design- the beautiful vibrations of sound paint pictures in my mind of the intricate fabric of the universe.
I saw that the space between the notes build the ratios between the grid lines that build the structure of our reality.
Music is the sound of order. And that is why when the ratios are just right there is harmony.
Take a walk in nature and you will see and hear a symphony. A symphony beyond our command and control, but under the control and governance of a divine order.
Optimally, humans dance with the rhythm of life, being raised with love by their our parents, learning skills to become independent and harnessing and nurturing our innate talents, find love, commit to a life partner and marriage, have children and raise them with love- having patience and humility to see their individual and unique personality, skills and talents, guiding them toward independence and so on and so on the cycle keeps going.
There is something though that happens with humans that makes participating in this symphony difficult- a lot of notes are missed and there is sometimes a great deal of dissonance.
Humans sometimes act in ways that are detrimental to their children, their spouses, their own selves, and they pass on these patterns that decrease the likelihood of continuing and collectively decrease the likelihood of the survival of our species as a whole.
While the Command is Love and freedom in harmony with God’s creation both individually and as a society, the outcome is often Fear and Control.
Fear comes from Pain- from trauma and from loss- and it is ultimately a lack of healing – a lack of faith.
It becomes the obsession with injury and pain and with this comes an attempt to control outcomes in an attempt to prevent further injury and pain. Ironically more injury and pain ensues, more so that if left to the outcomes of freedom.
Now, self-control, self-determination, boundary setting, and consistency towards goals within the bounds of laws are all necessary and good. These are acts of faith in the future.
But control, movement based on fear and desire to control others and outcomes defies the natural order and design and perpetuates generational cycles of pain and trauma.
People stop being fruitful and life ends.
This happens on an individual level, the familial level and on the larger societal level.
When control manifest itself on the governmental level it is still a response to pain and trauma but a collective pain and trauma.
And so begins an entire operation that is founded on fear.
And we know that whatever an institution is founded on- that is what is needed to feed it.
A government founded on fear must perpetuate fear in order to continue.
All governments exist on a spectrum of control.
Too little control or order and you have chaos. A balanced form of control and order you have direct represented democracy- you have peace and prosperity.
Too much control, you have totalitarianism.
The most extreme form of control we’ve seen in modern history can be found in Soviet Communism.
It is no wonder why the first order of communists is to metaphorically kill God in the minds of its people.
God lets people know that they are autonomous, free and beautiful creations- that they bow before no man. They bow only before God, the act humbly and serve their husbands, wives and children- they honor their parents and love their neighbors.
In communism, the leader attempts to eliminate God and yet they also attempt to take the place of God, demanding complete and total loyalty and obedience.
People must give up their identities, their different abilities, their thoughts, beliefs, skills and talents and equally without care of the individual, bow to and serve the state.
The family is broken- children are encouraged to tell on their parents- to observe them for disloyal thoughts and actions. Neighbors are not allowed to love one another they are divided by fear that they will be the next to be arrested and are encouraged or bullied into betraying their neighbors. And parents, grandparents, the elderly, those with knowledge of history- of the record of what has been are often killed first and sent to camps.
Communism has been and still threatens to be the most murderous endeavor that the modern man has embarked upon.
Stalin killed 10 million people in Holodomor alone- this was the forced Ukrainian famine.
He executed 1 million people. He sent another 1.7 million to Siberia or the Gulags.
He killed another 1-2 million from forced relocation.
This does not include the 20-27 million soviets who died under Stalin’s brutal command in WW2, where soldiers were sent to the front line without guns and bodies were used as human shields.
If you weren’t killed you lived constantly in suspicion, depravity and fear. When arrests happen, babies were tossed out of crips and onto the floor like garbage being tossed out of a rubbish bin.
People in Soviet Russia were arrested or killed for betraying the ideas of communism, for being class traitors, for the actions of their family members, for having private property, for being scientists or artists or teachers, or owning a business, for being Christian or holding religious beliefs, for their ethnicity, for their belief or practice of traditions or customs, for nationalism or love of their culture.
After we discuss Stalin, we will discuss Mao.
I hope that after our thorough analysis of soviet communism, you will shutter at the phrase lie of “The Warmth of Collectivism”.
You will know that words such as those started movements that led to destruction. That hundreds of millions of innocent souls were sacrificed to the False God known as “The Collective.”
