Piano Lessons at The Essential Classroom
Discover the joy of playing piano in a supportive, personalized environment.
If your child is just starting out, my beginner-friendly piano lessons build strong technical skills, music theory knowledge, and expressive musicality.
As a classically trained pianist since age 9, with additional experience as a singer-songwriter, saxophonist, and bassoonist, I bring deep musical expertise to every lesson. Combined with my background as a NYS-certified special education teacher and mother of three musical and artistic children, I excel at quickly assessing each student’s needs and adapting instruction for different learning styles — including those with special needs.
Lesson Approach
I use the trusted Alfred’s Basic Piano Library method books, which provide a balanced, step-by-step foundation in note reading, rhythm, technique, and theory. Lessons go beyond the book to include:
- Proper posture and relaxed hand position
- Ear training and simple improvisation
- Creative expression and dynamics
- Fun repertoire that builds confidence quickly
Beginners start with keyboard awareness, finger numbers, and basic rhythms, then progress to playing real pieces with musicality. Lessons are engaging, positive, and tailored so every student feels successful and empowered.
